TMA is widely regarded among Tennessee policymakers and political insiders as the most influential advocacy organization for physicians. We are the only organization representing all doctors statewide, and that strong, unified voice gives us the clout to successfully influence laws, rules and regulations that determine how healthcare is delivered in this state. Physician Health Program

The Tennessee Medical Foundation administers the Physician’s Health Program, started by TMA in 1978. The program helps physicians battling substance use, mental/emotional health, behavioral health, cognitive issues, and other conditions. The TMF offers expert guidance, support, and advocacy for struggling physicians, residents, and students; provides free health and impairment education to health professional audiences statewide; and offers resources that include the TN-PSQ, an anonymous, online mental health screening tool.
