Health Insurance surveys

The Tennessee Medical Association (TMA) is conducting a series of comprehensive surveys to accumulate data on health insurance payer business practices. The surveys will be split into three parts based on type of payer, including:

• TennCare MCOs
• Commercial carriers
• Medicare Advantage carriers

Data generated from the surveys will be used to educate lawmakers, government agencies, and health insurance payers to help support future advocacy efforts with the goal of improving processes and reimbursement. The data collected will be kept confidential in the aggregate and no specific practice or provider data will be shared. Topics include questions in categories related to reimbursement, claims denials and recoupments, and contracting.

The surveys are rather lengthy and there are several within each category. We estimate it will take about 15 minutes per payer to complete, due to some of the survey questions requiring analysis of your payment data and responding with specific billing codes. We hope that you will direct the survey to the individual in your practice with the most familiarity with health insurance payer business practices to answer on behalf of your organization’s Tax ID number. Please keep in mind that once you begin a survey, you may leave and return back to it at a later time; however, once you complete the survey you no longer have that option.
