Provider Stability on Notice Next Week

March 3, 2017

TMA’s Healthcare Provider Stability Act will be heard in two committees next week in the Tennessee General Assembly.

SB 856/HB 1106 is one of TMA’s top priorities for the 2017 legislative session.

It would require a 60-day notice from an insurance company when a change in reimbursement is made as the result of a policy at the sole discretion of the payer, allow fee schedule changes only once every 12 months, require a 90-day notice of a fee schedule change and require a health insurance company to provide a copy of the fee schedule to a provider within 10 business days of a written request.

The bill will be considered by the Joint Pensions and Insurance Committee on Monday and in the Senate Commerce and Insurance Committee on Tuesday. Physicians will be present to support the legislation as part of TMA’s Day on the Hill.
